(We do not collect these names or emails!)Instead of your friends constantly quoting the much-loved primetime cartoon, other shows on Fox will be finding creative ways to reference back to "The Simpsons" to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the long-running cartoon, The New York Times reports.
Long-time fans of the show will definitely catch all of the network's "The Simpsons" references. They can log onto Fox's website to take a quiz to possibly receive a "Simpsons" prize package.
The show, which recently surpassed "Gunsmoke" as the longest-running primetime American series, debuted in 1989. There have been over 445 episodes, and "The Simpsons" began its 21st season this September.
The satirical cartoon is based around a dysfunctional, middle-class American family which comprises Marge and Homer Simpson and their three children Bart, Lisa and Maggie.
In 2007, a full-length film, "The Simpsons Movie," was released in theaters. The film grossed $527 million dollars. The story begins when the pollution in Lake Springfield is so terrible that it erodes the barge that the band Green Day is performing on. The band dies during their concert. Eventually the town is enclosed in a dome by the EPA and the Simpsons must find a way to escape.
Voice actors in the series, such as Hank Azaria, have gone on to have successful careers in film. He performs a number of the voice roles on the show that include Moe, Chief Wiggum and Apu. Azaria has recently appeared in the films "Night at the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian" and "Run, Fat Boy, Run."
