Aliens abound on TV and in theaters

James Cameron's new movie, "Avatar," doesn't hit the big screen until December 2009. If you need an alien fix, the new sci-fi series, "V," is coming soon to your living room, courtesy of ABC. But why not expand your science fiction horizons one step further? There are a host of sci-fi movies that are bound to make you excited for the future of space travel. "2001: A Space Odyssey" is one of the must-see science fiction movies of all time and was directed by Stanley Kubrick. This creepy outer space tale is about a rogue computer program that puts spaceman Dave (Keir Dullea) in a sticky, isolated situation. If you closely followed the Mars expeditions, take a look at "Mission to Mars." This movie starred Carrie-Anne Moss from the mind-freeing film, "The Matrix." "Mission to Mars" also featured Gary Sinise, who also appeared in the movie based on the true story of the astronauts in "Apollo 13." For those who love the small screen, grabbing a copy of "Firefly" is a necessary action for anyone who says they are a science fiction fan.
