Gamers can choose to do good or evil as they step into the middle of a centuries-old battle between two witches in The Witch and the Hundred Knights. The beautiful Marsh Witch Metallica has designs on destroying the hideous Wood Witch and turning the world into a giant marshland, and to meet these ends she enlists the help of a group of undead knights known as the One Hundred Cavalry. She can only see one soldier at a time, however, and it is that knight that players control through a dark adventure filled with hack-and-slash combat viewed from an overhead perspective.

Gamers can choose to do good or evil as they step into the middle of a centuries-old battle between two witches in The Witch and the Hundred Knights. The beautiful Marsh Witch Metallica has designs on destroying the hideous Wood Witch and turning the world into a giant marshland, and to meet these ends she enlists the help of a group of undead knights known as the One Hundred Cavalry. She can only see one soldier at a time, however, and it is that knight that players control through a dark adventure filled with hack-and-slash combat viewed from an overhead perspective.
The hub of operations is Metallica's house, where gamers can select from ten different weapon types and equip up to five weapons before heading out into an open world in which they can seamlessly move between frontiers and towns. Players can go into cities looking for quests, they can accept quests but deliberately do the opposite of what the citizens want, or they can simply attack the non-player characters and sack the village, but they have to deal with deal with the good or bad consequences of their actions. If gamers die in battle they lose any of the items they had collected, and they can't return to Metallica's home until they've reached a save point, so belligerence is not necessarily the best tactic.
In combat players don't kill their enemies, but consume them to build up GIGAcal, a type of stamina that allows Metallica to cast magic spells and summon more members of the One Hundred Cavalry for short periods of time. Gamers can combine weapon types to create custom combo attacks and they can also slow time and make themselves temporarily invincible by using the Mystical Dodge skill. When not in battle, players can go fishing to retrieve items they lost, or they can gamble on board games.
