Three young journalists fall afoul of a murderous cult while investigating the disappearance of an American backpacker in Europe. Convinced that the missing backpacker is somehow linked to the isolated Polish village of Alvaina, the journalists quickly unearth evidence that the locals have been practicing human sacrifice. Later, after wandering into a mysterious fog and discovering a foreboding, blood-soaked statue, the journalists are targeted for death by the secretive locals.
