A young Los Angeles couple encounters a terror beyond their worst nightmares after moving to Joshua Tree, California, and falling prey to a malevolent supernatural entity. Chloe and Jason were eager to lead a more simple life when they decided to leave the city behind, and settle down on a remote ranch. But from the moment they set foot in their new home, something isn't right. With the help of a renowned spiritualist, they attempt to purge their new home of dark energy. Much to their surprise, however, this only makes matters worse. Later, the local sheriff learns the previous residents of the ranch vanished without a trace a decade prior, and vows to help the newcomers escape the grasp of evil that threatens to drag them into the darkness.
