One of a series of rap films that briefly flooded the market in the mid-1980s, RAPPIN' focuses on a community of youths who use the musical genre to tackle societal problems. Specifically, John Hood (Mario Van Peebles) goes to battle in both rap contests and against a greedy land developer. Directed by Joel Silberg, AKA Yoel Zilberg, an Israeli filmmaker, who also directed the dancing/musical films BREAKIN' and LAMBADA during his Hollywood years. Warning: this film contains a white cowboy rapper.
