Olympia - The Leni Riefenstahl Archival Collection 2 Disc Set DVD Description
Acclaimed German filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl has two documentaries collected here. "Festival of Nations" is a study of the human body pushed to its limits, with footage of Jesse Owens's performances at the 1936 Olympics provided in close-up detail. Then, "Festival of Beauty" features athletes from a variety of competitions at the 1936 event--including field hockey and swimming--as well as the spectacular conclusion to the games. Notorious for her promotional work for the Nazi party, which led to her being ostracized by the moviemaking industry, Riefenstahl's work still contains plenty of historical value.
