Af the foot of the Afghan mountains, young Uraz (Omar Sharif) attempts to live up to the standards of his macho father (Jack Palance) by engaging in a violent tournament Bozkeshi--a sport where players on horses attempt to move the carcass of a sheep into a circle. An accident cost Uraz his leg, which leads him on a journey of self-discovery. Dalton Trumbo's script is a unique mixture of action, adventure, and drama. Claude Renoir shot the film in the mountains of Afghanistan and Spain.
