Description
This remake of the classic 1971 made-for-TV tear jerker details the late-1960s interracial friendship between new Chicago Bears recruit Gale Sayers (Mekhi Phifer, in the Billy Dee Williams role) and valuable running back Brian Piccolo (Sean Maher, in the role originally played by James Caan). Competition between the men quickly dissipates and they form a close bond. Tragedy strikes, however, when Piccolo finds that he has cancer. The original BRIAN'S SONG was significant for being the first "Movie of the Week" ever produced for specifically for television.
