Rampant wackiness ensues when a cargo ship carrying a load of beer is hit by a Japanese torpedo, and Sgt. O'Farrell (Hope) sets out to rescue the beverages. Hoping to buoy the confidence of his troops even further, the wily sergeant also attempts to hijack a group of lovely nurses for his men as well - only to end up with several male nurses and Phyllis Diller! Add in a strong antiwar statement, and you've got the mixture for one of Hope's most enduring films
